It was a beautiful day and the trail is in perfect condition. The scenery on the trail is just spectacular to look at on the GAP. We had lunch in West Newton at the Trailside restaurant and they were great and enjoyed eating there. They had an event on the trail this day that we were unaware of but it made this part of the trail really fun to ride on.
We made really good time on the trail even though we rode more miles this day than any other day. We left Ohiopyle around 7:45 A.M. and made lunch by 10:45 A.M. We took a good break at this time and got back on the trail around 12:45 P.M. Met some new friends in West Newton who had been following us on the Great Allegheny Passage Facebook page and stopped for a picture.
We made sure that everyone met in Boston so that we could ride as a group together the rest of the way to Pittsburgh. I little challenging with 17 riders but we did it. Got into the city around 4 P.M. Had a number of people encourage us along the way as we were all wearing our team jerseys.
Our families met us at the point and it was really cool to have them their when we arrived.
If you are interested, I recorded the entire trip in time lapse video and have the links listed below for each day. The ride for each day is compressed into about 7-8 minutes.
