Day 2 started out great. The trail was in good condition from Harper's Ferry to Big Slackwater. Unfortunately, big Slackwater should be avoided at all costs. Very thick mud is before and after this location. Take the detore. We did not!
Thus, we were cleaning and repairing bikes. We had two bike break the hangers on their rear derailers. Fortunately, we had 1 spare hanger and made the other bike a single speed bike until we could find a bike shop.
Made to Williamsport for lunch. I strongly recommend the desert rose cafe for lunch. This place was great. The bike shop in town was about 4 stores down and he fixed all of the bikes while we were at lunch.
After this from Williamsport to Fort Fredrick, the trail was fine. Water puddles but made good time. Took a tour of the fort and them got on the Western Marilyn Rail Trail until Hancock.
Staying at the Super 8 tonight. With 17 people, it is a little challenging to stay anywhere other than a hotel unless you are camping. Super 8 provided a hose and towels to clean our bikes. The local bike shop does provide a hose as well for $5.
Weavers for dinner was very enjoyable after a long day on the trail.
Tomorrow we are headed to Cumberland. We hear from other bikers the trail is in good condition with puddles.
